Award-winning fine art photographer, based in Massachusetts

My father spent the majority of his career working for Polaroid Corporation. Thus, my early introduction to photography. In my late teens, I had the honor of meeting Dr. Edwin Land, the creator of in-camera Instant Photography and co-founder of Polaroid. The impact of this meeting, for me was profound. This along with my dad being a Quality Control Technician for the company and his obsession with the technical side of photography drove an early appreciation and passion for the craft.

Having attended New England School of Photography’s Professional Photography program, I spent time studying under the late David Akiba (Landscape and fine photography) and Tom Petit (Color Theory) among others. I also discovered and studied the work of greats such as Ansel Adams, Cartier-Bresson, Weston, Callahan, and Salgado, to name a few. Initially, I spent time as an Advertising, Wedding, and Event Photographer while also opening a studio in Boston’s North End neighborhood. Later, I ultimately focused on and pursued fine art photography in earnest.

One constant for me over the years has been a focus on breathing life into the images I create using composition, light and form. One’s ability to communicate pre-visualized thoughts or ideas is the foundation for a photographic journey. At the forefront of this journey is perspective. An artist’s ability to uniquely position or juxtapose a subject to create a heightened sense of interest can enhance any image.

To feature my work, I travelled throughout New England and exhibited at many of the areas seasonal and open-air Art Fairs, garnering some attention, and awards along the way. I was later published in Towery Publishing’s “Boston – A History in the Making”. This was followed by opening “The Art of Giving” a unique gift gallery in Bedford, MA featuring Fine Art and Custom Picture Framing.

I have always been motivated by viewing the work of others which to this day inspires and contributes to my work. Attending museum shows and gallery exhibits always sparks the creative process and for me, many times leads to new projects. Whether it be looking at Graffiti as art or the simple joy of capturing the colors, movement and energy of travelling carnivals, each of these projects has been inspired by observation of another. Most recently, I tend to follow those artists involved in creating images with purpose, focused on the health of our planet, diverse cultures, and their environs. Omnipresent is the fragility of nature and human’s continuing impact on earth.
